These tartlets are delicious, quick and easy to make. They look outstanding, so perfect for a party as ‘hors d’oeurve’ for your guests.

It couldn’t be more simple – buy chilled pre-rolled puff pastry from your local supermarket or farm shop.

You’ll need:

Ready rolled puff pastry
Northumbrian Pantry’ Red Onion Relish’
1 Egg
Cutter of any shape
Feta or goat cheese

The puff pastry is ready rolled so just lay that out on a prep board. Take your cutter, we have a round one and a heart shape (for those romantic occasions) and cut the pastry. Ideally, using a smaller one of the same shape, press a small impression inside at 5mm, as this forms the border for the pastry to rise.

Cut the cheese into small enough cubes so it will melt – a 1/4 sugar cube size is perfect. In the centre of the pastry add 2 or 3 teaspoons of our ‘Red Onion Relish‘ and top with the cheese.

Beat the egg and thinly cover the outside 5mm edge so it will brown upon rising.

Place all the tartlets on a baking tray and oven cook for 10 minutes at 200 degrees.

Best devoured when hot.
