We are very proud to announce that the Northumberland County Council have certified that all our preserves are now officially ‘Produced in Northumberland’, and we can now proudly wave the orange and red county flag as qualified members of the initiative.
Produced in Northumberland is a fully audited scheme setup to verify that companies are producing, or using, local produce in order to showcase local quality and celebrate the county’s identity. Susan Armstrong, a trading officer from Northumberland Country Council, inspected our kitchen, office and storage rooms, and even our neighbouring kitchen garden and orchard, where we source much of our ingredients. The assessment was extremely thorough and covered every aspect of our business credentials needed to be accepted.
Alice grew up in the North Tyne Valley, amongst a close knit community in Simonburn village, so creating a business representative of the county has been very important to her and why we have a ‘buy local’ philosophy. We handpick all of our ingredients locally, or source them from a trusted local supplier, North ‘n’ Tyme, our neighbours in the village. This ensures we have the highest quality and freshness throughout the seasons.
We are launching with a range of 10 jams, jellies, chutneys and preserves, including some fun festive specials such as a Christmas Chutney and Figgy Pudding Jam, with the range to expand in 2020. Being part of the scheme gives us great confidence as we enter a close community of like minded Northumberland supporters. It is a strong and unique brand and as a new business provides us with an instant identity.
We hope you will see our jars in local stores soon and you are able to meet us and sample our range at the Christmas fairs that we are attending this festive season.
We are very excited about what lays ahead and are very proud to be flying the ‘Produced in Northumberland’ flag.
